Natural Resources Canada (NRCan)
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is the Canadian government department responsible for monitoring and enforcing the Energy Efficiency Regulations, which provides minimum energy-performance levels for all kinds of energy-using products, as well as the labeling of energy-using products and the collection of data on energy use.
All regulated products imported into Canada for sale or lease, or shipped from the province of manufacture to another area (inter-provincial shipment), shall meet the energy efficiency standard set out in the Energy Efficiency Regulations. NRCan requires these regulated products to bear an energy efficiency verification mark from a certification body accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for this purpose.
